South Florida Speed School

South Florida Speed School was founded to provide athletes with elite speed and agility training in a community-focused environment. Launched under the Garrish Family Foundation, the program began as free weekly speed sessions and has grown into a comprehensive athletic development initiative, offering training, community events, and scholarships for college-bound seniors.

John Garrish

Founder & Program Director, South Florida Prep

John Garrish is the Founder and Program Director of South Florida Prep, bringing over a decade of experience in private school education as an administrator, teacher, and coach. A South Florida native, John is deeply committed to supporting local families through education and mentorship. While many may recognize him as a trainer, his true passion lies in creating opportunities for youth to succeed both academically and personally.

After earning a Master’s Degree and coaching at the University of North Texas and Rutgers University, John returned to his roots in South Florida to work with high school students. A few years later, he founded South Florida Speed School under the umbrella of the Garrish Family Foundation, a nonprofit established in honor of his late sister. What began as free weekly speed training sessions quickly grew into community events, charitable services, and scholarships for college-bound seniors.
Although John is proud of the impact Speed School has had, he felt a deeper calling to expand his reach. After extensive conversations and a local needs analysis, he founded South Florida Prep—a vision that has been in the making for years. Through this program, John continues his mission to provide a personalized, flexible education that meets the unique needs of each student in South Florida.
